Motorcycle fatality rates continually on the rise

One California County has reported an upswing in fatal motorcycle accidents. At least one-half-dozen serious motorcycle accidents have occurred there since the beginning of the year, and many of these crashes have come down to the carelessness of other drivers.

One motorcycle rider was reportedly struck by a car driven by a drunken driver. Many other fatalities have involved intersection crashes. In recent years we have also seen a significant increase in motorcycle fatalities nationwide.

What is extremely problematic concerning any motorcycle accident are the kinds of injuries suffered. Even if a motorcyclist survives a crash, medical treatment and rehabilitative therapy may be ongoing for the remainder of that rider's life. Riders can suffer concussions, paralysis, numerous broken bones and serious scrapes and abrasions. Medical expenses in such cases can be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The injuries are also generally so sudden and lasting in nature that those injured may not be able to return to work for extended periods of time. Often the victims are young parents who were financially responsible for a number of family members. Most families cannot afford a financial blow that inevitably will be the result of a motorcycle crash.

Experienced personal injury attorneys are accustomed to assisting individuals that are badly in need of assistance. These attorneys can assist individuals in being reimbursed for medical expenses, wage losses, pain and suffering and other expenses. In the event of a motorcycle fatality, attorneys can help family members not have to suffer any more consequences than they already did due to their loss.
