Top Los Angeles Bicycle Accident Trial Lawyers

By law, bicycles on the roadway have the same rights and responsibilities as motorized vehicles. When bicycles collide with cars and other motorized vehicles, however, the results can be catastrophic. Cyclists can suffer severe injury and even death at the hands of distracted and negligent motorists.

If you or a loved one has suffered severe injury or been killed during a bicycle accident, it is critical that you hire attorneys who are experienced and know how to handle these specialized cases.

The Homampour Law Firm has successfully handled many types of bike cases and knows how to investigate and prove these claims. Many cases involve drivers drifting over or turning and not seeing that a bicycle is to their right. Knowing how to reconstruct these cases is essential to getting the best possible recovery. We deploy investigators to look for surveillance footage and eyewitnesses who many times provide the missing piece of evidence that proves liability. We retain the right experts to explain the attentional demands on bicyclists.

Bicycle Accident Case Results
  • $3.5 million
    - In 2011, we represented a wife whose husband was riding his bicycle on the side of the road when he crashed into truck on the side of the road. Because her husband died and there were no actual eyewitnesses to the crash itself, it was unknown what happened to cause the bicyclist to crash.

Nonetheless, we were able to locate witnesses that saw the bicyclist and the truck before the incident. Through complex accident reconstruction, we were able to argue that the truck was illegally parked and secured the truck's insurance policy limits.

    3.5 million
    - In 2012, Arash obtained a $3.5 million verdict in a wrongful death case in Federal Court. The case involved a truck driver that ran over and killed a young girl on her bike. The investigating officer found (erroneously) that the young girl was totally at fault. Again, another attorney brought our firm in, but this time to take the case to trial.

Even though strong evidence in the form of surveillance video showed that that driver was at least partially at fault, the insurance company refused to pay a reasonable settlement. This was a particularly difficult case because it was tried in Federal Court, the young girls parents testified through Spanish interpreters, and there was evidence that the young girl rode her bike from the sidewalk into the crosswalk against a flashing red pedestrian signal.

Many attorneys are afraid of Federal Court and its strict procedures, harsh restrictions on jury selection and unanimous verdict requirement. But, not Arash, as he was successful in convincing a Federal jury which unanimously found that the truck driver could and should have avoided the collision and that a beautiful precious young life was needlessly taken. The jury awarded $3.5 million or more than 10 times what the insurance company offered to settle during trial.

    $2 million
    - In 2012, we represented a bicyclist riding on the road that was struck by a delivery truck. Although his initial injuries did not seem to be severe and permanent (he had orthopedic injuries that resolved), his wife noticed that he simply was not himself and had experienced a change in his personality.

We determined that our client had what was called a mild traumatic brain injury which produced anything but mild effects on our client's life.

The insurance company for the delivery truck driver disputed liability and damages. It contended that our client's injuries were minor, that he did not have a permanent brain injury and that any issues he had were the result of pre-existing and long standing issues that had resulted in his retirement before the incident.

Nonetheless, we aggressively pursued the case, retained the best experts on brain injuries and forced the insurance company to pay its $2 million in insurance policy limits.

We have attained over $480 million dollars for our clients, we think our results speak for themselves, read about them here.
